Oh, by the way, do Gamemaker games have to be in 16X16 format? Because if it does, then whatever I have to make has to fit those tiles… but it’s no problem…
Also, in P2D, how many small tiles does it take to make a room that makes one square on the map?
Being a noob, I have no idea what you mean by 16X16 format
The rooms varied in size since the size of Samus changed from game to game. Usually people base their size off of SM, though.
Do have any screenshots from Nebulus? If not, any mock-ups?
And is the music I’m making first(The one you posted) music for a certain area or the theme or what? i’ll need to know to get the mood of the tune right.
Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t know you meant tile size. Yeah, I’m not sure about that. I think Samus was always 2X1 and in morphball 1X1. Therefore, you’d need to compare that with the screen size of SM. The blocks in one scene should be the right amount.
Yes, the remake of Nebulus will be on Windows, most likely made on Gamemaker.
Making games on paint isn’t what I do anymore. When I was very little, I’d use the magnify tool to zoom in, create a box on the very top-left corner, and make a “level”. Then, one screen to the next, I’d draw another level. You could move by using the select tool and drag the character around. I’ve made over 100 games this way.
Mario
Metroid
Super Smash Bros.
Sonic
Zelda
Pokemon
Viewtiful Joe
Star Wars
A couple of my made-up games…
and much much more games were made…
However, when you zoom out, the entire image becomes very small. So, when my sister or neighbor comes to play, the’ll have to close their eyes so they don’t peek at what’s ahead…
Lastly, each year, my sis, me, and my neighbor have a “Annual Game Award” program on Powerpoint. We vote for the best games of the year, lolz!
And, Metroid Nebulus 6 (Beta) is my entry!
Lolz…
There is much you can do with paint, if you use ur imagination…
I have just read though this entire topic, and I have to be perfectly honest: This game doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of being made.
Xmega, you have said yourself that your spriting ability and your programming abilities are next to nothing. You said yesterday that this game is 33 percent complete, and yet, you also said a few posts down that almost nothing for graphics has been done, not to mention that your sig portrays that you have no music and no programming. How does 33% rack up to almost nothing? You are probably not aware, but making a storyline doesn’t really go into a game’s completion percentage. I could make up a game storyline in 5 minutes if I wanted to.
Not to mention, that your project has no plan or no structure. You are just trying to do everything at once without any pre-planning. You have nothing done for programming, which should be the most important thing on your to do list as without a reliable and good working engine a game is crap anyway. This idea for your game only started about a week ago, and you actually think that by late this month/early next month you are going to have a demo ready? Not that it is a fair comparison by any means, but look at P2D, they have been working on this for TWO YEARS, and there demo still isn’t completed. Not that it’s due to laziness, but rather that they are making sure that everything in terms of the engine the sprites the music etc, is as goos as it can possibly be. They also have a lot more to show for all the work they have done. What do you have to show for something that is presumably going to be done in a month’s time? Nothing.
I hope that at least some of my advice is helpful, and make you realize that a game isn’t something that is just gonna be whipped up in a month.
My sig is updated, more progress has been done…
And, this game won’t be releasing for a while, cuz I’m still working with GameMaker.
Just wait a year…
Well, the demo is all planned out; completely. All it needs is images, sounds and programming… lol…
Expect the demo to come in about June. If I learn programming easily, it’ll be as close as March.
Here’s a “walkthrough” of the demo. If you don’t want to SPOIL IT, DON’T READ!
You are currently in Twin Tebula. Walk through the rooms until you eventually come across a small enemy. Shoot it three times, and go through. Eventually, you will come across a room with 2 doors. Go through the one on the ceiling. Then, kill the enemy. Scan the red object with the visor. Then, use morph ball bombs at the right of the dead end to reach a secret passage. Shoot the gate switch with the power beam, and get the first Missle Expansion. Now, go down, and enter the door to your right. Scan doors, jump, and kill enemies to get through; common sense. Now, you will need to fight Ridley. Shoot him with the Power Beam until his mouth is open. Then, use a missle to damage his mouth. Repeat this 3 times. He has 50 hp, and remember that a missle does 15 damage. If you skipped the missles, shoot Ridley’s mouth 25 times. (Each shot does 2 damage) After you damage Ridley, he will escape. You must evacuate the planet within 2:00:00. It’s pretty easy, unless you need to go back and get missles. this is your only chance to get them! Be sure you have them before you leave!!!
Well, that’s the end of the demo. If anyone wants, I’ll tell them a cool moviepart on Magmortis Isles.
EDIT: on my 100th post, I will reveal a sillhouette of Antharg!
DOUBLE EDIT: Check my sig! Antharg is here!
TRIPLE EDIT: Here’s a more distinguishable head, and a colored upper view of Antharg.
QUADRUPLE EDIT: Here’s my first mock-up of Metroid Nebulus.
Um, COUGH Dont pretend you didnt read Dark Samus’s post. He basically said what I was trying to say in my earlier post, cept I held back alot. You should just scrap this, get a mod or admin to delete this topic, work on your game for a LONG time, till you have a playable demo. THEN you can post your stuff.
The reason I can say this is because … I have a playable demo, physics and environmental testing engine, and I still have not made a topic in here.
And mock ups account for nothing, trust me. Anybody can do mock ups.
This, on the other hand, is NOT a mock up, it is an actual screen shot from the game I am creating ::
Untill you have something like that to show for your game, please, lets not crowd up these forums. There is already enough spamed up junk in this section.
Dont get me wrong, I am not trying to discourage you. Keep working. You have a half way decent start. Just dont announce anything untill you have some substance on which to base your claims of your game.
