Free will. That’s what it was called in the Old Testament, regardless of whether or not it was corrupted. Free will was the reason we were banished from Eden, but if we have the free will to follow the real path and not a corrupted one set by the church, then maybe we can get out of this and get back to Eden?
If are free will corrupted the bible, then god should let it kill us anyway. It’s true, we need to learn from our mistakes, and if we dont, we die. Thats what free will allows. Thats why god (not that i beleive in him, but im discussing this for the sake of the argument) doesnt intervene. We can make mistakes, and if those mistakes kill us, then it’s nobody elses fault but ours. That would make everything bad that happens gods fault for not intervening. Thats why god doesnt intervene, so people cant blame him (its not why, but it’s an example).
Edit:
But that’s the problem, we cant go back because we have free will. Free will is both good and corrupt, and you cant have free will without corruption. There is no such thing as a pure human soul, we just like to beleive there is.
Well, yeah, free will got us into this mess, but if we’re stuck with it, then we have to make a concerted effort to better ourselves with it. If you don’t believe we can or if you decide not to, then you’re basically damning the entire human race. The way I see it, we have to at least try.
Sorry, but yes, basically, im damning the human race. Personally, i think it’s way to late for us to stop our end. Not that i think we shouldnt try. Im extremely enviornmentally concious to the point where i dont like hummers, and want a solar powered car. I’ll do my goddamm part, and watch the world end. That way, i’ll have no regrets. I think we should try, but i know that we wont (humans in general).
Yep, but sin makes us human, and we would be machines without it. We can be “us” at the price of being idiots. But i like my life, and i just hope we can save our children.
Hate to say it, but if you believe the Bible wholly, then you also believe someone is in Hell. The Bible teaches that the rich man that treated Lazarus badly is in “the lake of fire.” Ramses II, the pharoah at the time of the Exodus, is in Hell too, as he died not believing with his army.
The Bible says God shows compassion, but consider this. We have sinned, and God has given his life for us. By refusing it, we do him another injustice. Where do you think the best one of us belongs? Mother Theresa? If she was a true Catholic, and tried to go to Heaven by works, she is in Hell too. “We are saved not of works, but by faith.” No human can equal God’s righteousness. All the goodness in a trillion Mother Theresas could not equal the goodness of God’s toenail.
God feels compassion for us, but he can’t pardon our sins without us regretting them and asking him to do so in the first place.
This is very strange at school but, there this one person and she think if she does good things then she goes to heaven without belief of the bible.
The bible does explains events about things like how is Anartica under 8 -12 miles under ice, reason maybe the great flood, and if all that Ice mealt then there maybe another one.
actually we do. By 2020, a certain city in sweden (im pretty sure it’s sweden) will be under water. By 2050 major portions of continents will be underwater. Global warming shows absolutley no signs of slowing down (in fact, it’s speeding up), and even if all pollution was to stop now, it would still take a couple hundred years for the atmosphere to clean.
Global warming again? Maybe you don’t comprehend, but small environmental changes like what is termed “global warming” have been happening forever. In the midst of the American Revolution, there was a summer where many days were about 105 degrees F, in Maryland! Global warming? No. Things have reverted since then, and they will again.
By my “research,” if things continued to increase 5 degrees F every year since the 1770’s, we’d be dead by now! There’s your scientist’s “logic” right there.
To parahprase Al Gore, talking to the “scientists” behind his “Inconvenient Truth”-
“Hey, lie if you have to. Just make it where it’ll fool people.”
Again, that is a paraphrasation, not a true quote. However, it conveys Gore’s message clearly.
Have you even seen an Inconvenient Truth? Its idea of global warming has nothing to do with the Earth slowly heating up at a rate of 5 degrees per year. I suggest you go see that movie before trying to attack it. Sorry if you did see it, it’s just that it really doesn’t seem like it >_>
Not the point. In fact, the only part of my argument that the movie entered into was Gore’s paraphrasation, and the logic statement, not literally meaning 5 degrees a year.
I was showing that I (or your local drunkard) can do research rooted just as deeply in logic.
I haven’t seen it; the title is enough for me. Knowing Gore, all I’d get for watching would be a sore fist from beating it over his pixelated, under-filled cranium
The only thing that I have in his defense is that I have never been 100% happy with the Commander in Chief that I lived under (although some I like much more than others.)
Well, if you haven’t seen it, then don’t say anything like that about it
It’s just that, you were saying that the whole idea of the film revolves around that message, so the entire thing is completely false and he’s just telling lots of white lies to clean up the environment a little–But moreso implying that that message is actually portrayed in the film. That to me just showed that you hadn’t even seen it, which turned out to be true. Just trying to help your arguments >_>
I did think your whole post was against An Inconvenient Truth, though, when it was only the last part, so sorry for misunderstanding that.
