Hmmmm… it doesnt seem to meet your standard. Somehow, it doesnt look deep enough. I think it has enough contrast, but the darkest shades dont seem dark enough.
The face seems to turn me off. It’s just flat and bland (and somewhat light). That’s all, so keep it up.
jaw is a bit wierd…
I’d say flat, not bland. It just doesnt seem to have enough depth for such a realistic sprite. Though i must change my opinion about the darkest shades. The pallette is fine, but it just doesnt have enough depth.
it looks kind of pillowy…
i mean like what you said in halberd’s thread, either make it shinier, or do the bumps =)
Hmm…your right, it doesnt have a pillowy appearance. It seems to be shaded in places where light shouldnt hit. Of course, it could merely be the style your using, but i really dont think it lives up to your other works.
Blargh. The whole thing was just an exercise to try out a new shading style, so… Guess it didn’t work so well <<;
Meh. It just looks to flat, that’s all. It might work for a less detailed creature, but for a pirate, mabye not so much.
And thus as you commanded, a wyvern.
Rathalos WIP. Very WIP. Only the head and neck have been smoothed at all from the initial sketch, but meh. <_< Thought I’d show a bit of it anyway.
very nice pose for a wyvern. im impressed already. its a WoW one right?
Nah, it’s Rathalos from Monster Hunter.
meh looks kinda similar…
but then again, wyverns do tend to look that way.
daz, you ever play ogrebattle 64?
Nope. Though I did play the SNES version.
Wings and tail are coming along nicely.
there now draw my char. on the game droping those yellow barrel bombs under it…
aw…ogrebattle 64 is really good.
anyways, i think that it needs a little edge work (though that of course is meant for later), and maybe more whispy parts amongst tail and ends?
coming along very fast.
It’s good to see that you’re getting more into pixel art here. It’s a nice way to show off your talent. Wyvern huh? I’ve seen a lot of them all over the place, but they all seem different… I think the Lethe Wyvern from Arcanum was the best.
Cleaned up the outline quite a bit. I dunno what to dow ith the other wing yet so I might shade it soon and leave that for later.
It’s a newbish way out, but maybe you could finish the one wing, duplicate it, and place it right next to the other. It would be in the upright flapping position, like this: \ /
Nah, the shading and detail would be inconsistant that way, plus he would be in too boring a stance.
It’s for a contest so I can’t cut corners.
Well why didn’t you say so in the first place? lol. Yeah, if it’s for something like that then I guess you’ll have to custom make the other wing. How much time do you have for this anyway?
