'Til the 15th.
So it’s basically a sprite duel?? I dont worry about the shading, but some of the shaping (on the tail, and muscles) looks a little clumsy.
Most of the detail and shaping is blended in with the textures. Let’s just wait and see what Daz does before jumping to conclusions about the basic sketch.
Im not exactly farmiliar with the creature, so i could be wrong, but i’ve never sprited that way, so im probably just wrong. Nonetheless, i know it’ll probably be cleaned up as it’s shaded.
Starting on the color patterns and textures on the head. :3
You know, I just noticed that your topic has over 11,000 views… DAMN :O_O:
Yeah, it still needs more detail before anyone can really comment on it, but I can just imagine how it’ll look
It’s not really to the point where i can say much, but i think it looks good so far. The little light spot on the snout is the nostril i assume (since im not farmiliar with the creature).
One thing that bothers me is the toes. The right one (our right) looks awsome, but the pinky looks a tiny bit to small, skinny, or short. The thumb toe on the left juts out at an awkward angle. Lastly, the barbs on the right side of the tail dont look properly placed on the side. Even though it’s not shaded yet, it doesnt look realistic.
Other than that, cant say much till the shading is started. I’ve never seen a sprite this early in progress, so i cant really judge otherwise.
Very well, then.
sweet shading style!
A few of those dark spots on the head look pillow-shaded, but they blend in well anyway so it’s kind of hard to notice. Hey, thats another thing: Why is pillow shading generally considered bad?
It does have a pillowy appearance, but based on the light source, it looks fine. As long as the rest of the body corresponds, it’ll look fine.
Why pillow shading is bad. Im still not quite sure, but they say it gives a fluffy appearance, though i still dont know why that’s bad either.
Word.
The real problem is that there’s a 16 color limit, which allows me 3 shades per color, two for outline and transparency, and only two extra. I used one extra for a shiny spot on the horns, and I dunno what the last one’ll be… but point is, I can’t really do much with contrast thanks to the color limit. :\
Edit:
Not sure about the neck plates… so I only did one for now.
And with that, off to Warcraft to procrastinate on the other shading.
Edit 2: Updated with a finished neck and a new horn. :3
Keep it up like this and your color problem won’t mean a damn thing
Starting on the body and finished the neck… I dunno… it doesn’t set right, but I don’t have any idea how better to do it.
Like i’ve said earlier, im not farmiliar with the creature, but i think it looks fine so far. The body will definetly be a doosy though.
how many shades per color are you using?
2-4.
That is neat, and very good on how far it has come Daz, I cant wait to see it when it get done.
Yeah, but so long as you have a good idea of what it looks like or even a good reference then Daz will be fine.
you didn’t smooth out the jaggy lines and stuff, or did you not mean to?
