O well played through the game again but this time without getting morphball. I didn’t see the bomb jumping problem people were having, except that it seemed… “rushed” somehow. I like the Tallon Overworld music though.
How exactly did you finish the escape sequence without morphball? It may be possible to glitch, but it would take way too much time. It’s tough beating the escape as it is.
…How could you possibly have a complaint about something that has no relevance at all to the real demo/game?
>_>
DF, if you decide to keep a lot of this stuff in your next demo, could you make the area right underneath the tunnel WAY less buggy? You can get stuck in the wall, there’s a ledge that’s like a quarter of a tile that you can’t roll over… etc. I wanna try that tunnel thing, but it’s too frustrating as it is.
if the item was a simple upgrade (for more missiles) then i would have no problem with it not being noticable (there should be some silent clue though, metroid games either give you a small clue, or well…you have the power bombs, lol) , however, if it is necessary, than you should let the person know, so they dont just get bored, and say “f*** it” and walk off. think about it, if they never played metroid, would they know to bomb that area? if you added simple cracks in the ground there that were noticable, then it would have been good enough.
You guys need to stop complaining. Realize that DF was really excited to get this out so a couple things aren’t perfect. It is just a demo after all. It’s just being used to incorporate many different features of the game. Think about it. Do you remember an escape sequence in Tallon Overworld? I sure don’t, and it won’t be like that in the actual game (I hope.) It’s a little glitchy, sure, and the whole thing with the morphball is strange, but it really is a step in the right direction. I think the demo is great, although I haven’t beaten it yet , but it’s not supposed to be easy.
I JUST found the morph ball… It took me 10 Whole Minutes!
Are you going to implement the special thing you need to do to get there (sorry n00bz, no hints) more often, or is it a one time deal?
I really like what you did with it, It’s hard, too hard for casual gamers (but we arent trying to cater to them now are we?), but challenging enough to be fun.
Then you expect to much. My engine is far from perfect, but I’m doing my best… Look this isn’t a real official metroid game, it’s a fangame, which means it will never be as good as a real metroid game.
And BTW I’m revising the demo, a lot of things will be easier and less frustrating, many glitches will also be fixed.
relax, i wasn’t trying to insult anyone, also, destroyer f., do everyone a favor, and never say that a fangame will never be as good as a real game, because that is not true, and if you set the bar that low, that you dont even consider it to be a game, than it will never be anything better than that, it can be as good as any other metroid, and better, in the end, if you say fangames can never be as good, people just stop wondering “can i create a game?”, the real question is, since the only thing standing between you and a good game is you, the real question is, can you? (how much effort are you willing to put forward to make not just a fangame, or just a game, but the best game you can make)
No one was throwing insults, no one said the demo sucked (but we thought it , or did we?). Look, we waited for months (and I even dreamed that I played the new P2D 2.03 demo, what twice? Oh wait the other one was about Wii.) And all we got was this game. I was, personally, interested in seeing how Tallon Overworld was going to be translated into 2D. What did I get? Some made-up world that sucked. Imagine my dissapointment! Smartdude47 also put in a couple of noticable points I would like to highlight.
Coulda been from the Confucious of gaming himself! This can be great, from people who played through Metroid and make great sprites (Dazzy, MH, and the rest), experienced programmers (you Destroyer )
and great supporters (Andrew Mills, and lets not forget us!!! ) you guys have all YOU need to make a Metroid game with enough quality to be as good as SM, with the story of MP, and with everything people love about Metroid. GL HF.
Some other glitches:
While touching a wall and running towards it you can’t shoot.
Doing the thing that Troid does to make Samus float (press Left,Right,Down, and hold) when you shoot the shots will come out of her legs.
I guess the main reason everyone is criticizing the demo so much is because of misconceptions. The fact that it isn’t really Tallon Overworld, and that it isn’t really how the story goes dissappointed a lot of people I think. I understood that it was going to be the way it is, but I guess a lot of other people didn’t. Oh well.
lol, i know it was just to show that you guys could make tallon overworld, and the fact that samus was now there, really had me excited, but before you do anything, you should polish, you didn’t need all of us to betatest really, give any decent gamer a couple hours with the game, and he can find quite a few glitches, so rather than just getting something out, do like the big game-making companies do, and polish it to perfection please.
