…Put a blank at the end, that’s what needs to be kept longer.
How bout you make a sprite that takes time?
yeah i would… but i really didnt know how to do this any other way.
EDIT
its barly visible at the end but i added a blank frame.
i could give the block some texture too if u want… i was thinking along the lines of dirt XD
Now hold the blank frame.
sigh…
Still too slow.
I can control the animation speed in gamemaker, don’t worry about it.
The animation still needs some work, you need to use more colors IMO.
Yes not just grey and white. And don’t just use the Air Brush in MS Paint.
Added that sprite, with some minor editing. Works really well in the game ![]()
I’ve made some good progress in the last few days. I might have this demo ready by next week ![]()
Okay I’ve got a question concerning the game/demo. Do you guys have the amount of damage that every enemy does to Samus or are you doing it differently. I saw the Boss Attack list in the SCU forum and started wondering about the rest of the enemies. If you are using the damage amounts from the original I’d be happy to find them, although it may take awhile.
cheers ![]()
EDIT: Whoa, I unlocked your post >_>
Hmm… It appears DF didn’t have time to post the new demo over here.
I kind of ripped the game to shreds with my glitch-hunting. Some of those were found by others in posts before mine, though.
…
I thought I’d come over here to see what glitches you guys had discovered, but it wasn’t even posted over here yet apparently.
…why cant i get the morphball?..if you go to the far right all the way to the place where you need morphball, and duck, you become stuck under the ledge, and glitch quite a bit, and then you can somehow if you play with the controls enough, turn into morphball.
um…guys…i dont have a morphball, yet i just got both morphball bombs…and a missile launcher…
Explore the world to find the morph ball. That’s the point of metroid games, exploration…
One smiley: ![]()
The only complaint I have, that I think hasn’t been mentioned before, is that your challanges do not feel very metroid gameish. I don’t even know how to describe a metroid gameish challenge, and you’re close, but… it doesn’t have the same feel. Yours seem to be beatable more through brute force than anything else.
EDIT: Actually, there is one more thing. Do something about the inertia. In MP, she stops almost as soon as you stop walking. It’s very frustrating to jump onto a ledge and then just walk right off the edge.
Sorry but thumbs down.
Here are my complaints:
Morphball WTF? I turn into morph ball by pressing jump and turning into mb looks as if it happens randomly after I press jump.
Bombs without beating the beatle? Wait where is Chozo Ruins?
Wait you don’t have to collect Morph Ball right? Because I never collected it and I got to the Map Station
I cannot believe you added the Dash ability. Dash hasn’t been in any Metroid except Super Metroid and I remember Daz putting down someone for suggesting Screw Attack.
Placement of the tiles require next to pixel perfect execution or else you cannot get onto some places. Getting stuck in the cave with the Missile Launcher is way too easy (just don’t bomb the first two blocks)
And I have to agree: this isn’t very Metroid-ish. I don’t know if it is the lack of bosses or what but I feel like I’m not playing Metroid, much less Prime 2D.
Physics? Use Demo 2.02’s instead.
Bombable blocks just are way too unnoticable. I found out about the Missle Launcher cave after I went crazy, bombing and shooting everything.
Upgrade placement? No. I would expect Missile Expansions or Energy Tanks in the area you placed the upgrades. They are way too hard to reach. Of course this dosen’t apply to Bombs because they are just right in the middle of nowhere.
change the sprites for your objects you pick up…ALL OF THEM!
also, about the metroid feel, i think it doesn’t feel like metroid, but it doesn’t really matter in this, i am pretty sure that this was to show the new area and simply give a couple challenges, thats all, i am pretty sure this was kinda just showing off, or at least i hope so.
…that “if you forget to destroy the first two blocks you get stuck” is not true…it happened to me, you simply get underneath the block and lay craploads of bombs, however, if you went the the game without morphball (which can be done, since if you spinjump into the place where you need morphbomb, which is very nearby, you get stuck kneeling, and then you can play with the controls until you are forced to turn into morphball somehow)…well…then you cant freely turn into morphball, and thus you are stuck.
i didn’t mind so much the placement of the items, as to how noticable they were to get to, destroyable blocks should be more noticable somehow, make them interesting, like crumbling or something, also, destroy that block near the missile, i spent a long time trying to destroy that block to get missiles, and the missiles were so nearby yet so un-noticable.
the morphball bomb jump is bad, and to get to morphball, you should be able to get to it slightly easier.
if you un-morph inside the cave to the map-room, you will find a way to get stuck jumping in air, however you can simply morph back and fix it.
the cave to the map room sucks for bomb jumping, you keep rolling off the necessary pinnacle, and bomb-jumping is as said before, way too tricky.
really im kinda dissapointed, please do better with the actual demo ![]()
<_< Lol scan visor =3
It is supposed to be challenging, there should be no hint whatsoever as to where bombable blocks are. And Morphball isn’t very hard to get to at all.
