Super smash bros. Brawl

Dark suit and Fuzion suit are costumes, not Dark samus…unfortunately.

I hear Dark samus isn’t even a trophy. >_> (though somewhere else I saw that she was, so I dunno). She honestly SHOULD have been an AT if anything.

DS should have been a character. She’s like Luigi; a little different from normal samus, but different enough to make a new character and important enough to even have a character.

I think if DS was in, she’d be more like Wolf, not a clone, but still similar.

Yeah, that’s more like it.

DS is tough, though, I don’t think they could do her justice without toning her right down

Perhaps the same could be said of Samus herself. Or Sonic. Mario. Ganondorf.

Characters change for Smash. Powerups, powerdowns, growths, shrinks, Smashville changes things for balance’s sake.

That’s my point.

Ganondorf was the final boss in Zelda, DS was the final boss in Metroid Prime. Big deal. Just change her around a bit.

Your point is that they can’t tone her down for balance’s sake because they could tone her down for balance’s sake?

Oh, duh. Why didn’t I figure that out…?

No, they wouldn’t be able to do her justice because they’d have to change her for balance’s sake.

Pretty sure that was his point, anyway…

Right, and again, it would be no different than what they did for Samus, Ganon, etc–it may not do them full justice, but it makes them fun.

Exactly, it’s very hard to do a character as powerful as Dark Samus, and Ridley (and Samus come to think of it) justice in a game like this. But the objective is to have a fun game and having lopsided characters is a major fun killer so balancing is imminent.

Edit: Nice job on simultaneous post daz.

No, samus can be powered down becuase she never really does anything huge, like… heck, most of DS’ attacks.

I don’t mean toneing her down damagewise, I mean it more grahicly, if they did her justice, she’d likely make it too hard to see at all on small stages.

…huh. I just kinda realized that Samus has the screw attack, and yet the only other upgrades she has are the grappling beam and missiles… super missiles as well, now. And Charge beam, and technically morph ball and bombs.
Just never realized it before <_<
I also never realized how interesting it would be to play with a fully upgraded samus… Power bombs, wave beam, ice missiles, boost ball, etc. Speed booster could be used in interesting ways, too, as well as the speed booster jump.
lol… or the speed booster mach ball.
Or the crazy yet under-used beam-combos in Super Metroid.

Anyway, I actually came here to say that, since Brawl comes out in three more days here… I’m anxious to see if anyone wants to set up any sort of tournament, or trade friend codes or something… I plan on playing regularly :stuck_out_tongue:
And hopefully they have more than just two-minute timed battles on the internet. I hate timed battles… I’m sure most people would agree that stock battles are the way to go, and that 3-5 lives would be a good balance, but I’m kinda afraid that that’s not how it’s gonna work out here <_<

Also, roflmao

Oh my god I laughed so hard at that video.

Yeah, lol, I found a nice chain of entertaining super metroid videos. Including someone that thought beating spore spawn without any damage was impressive.
Show me beating Ridley without any damage, and I’ll be impressed.

Argh, I just had a cool thought. The Zero Laser, as neat as it is, is completely out of place. She never had any abilities like that, and there’s a great move that could have worked… the speed booster. Up her speed massively and turn her up-B into the Shinespark, which would be like an absurdly powerful version of the Fire Fox, but also hurt her armor… and thus break it down into Zero Suit Samus, keeping the main draw of her smash intact.

Agh, that would be awesome… I was actually thinking about how that move didn’t actually relate to anything she did in the games <_< But the only thing I could think of that actually worked was the ship bombs.
I really like that idea… that’s the closest thing to a crazy smash attack she has. And makes more sense than “Her laser overloaded her suit and made it fall apart.”

It came close to blowing my mind.

If almost blew my job. : )

edit:
BTW, I was thinking we might want to start exchanging friends codes when brawl comes out. I know that Dazz lives in Cali, so I probably cant play him without lag, but I live in florida, anybody nearby?

Supposedly it won’t lag even across fairly long distances.

Unfortunately, my other PC died, and the dongle won’t work with this one. :<
