Does it matter if you couldn’t in M2? You couldn’t even crouch in Metroid 1, but you can in M:ZM.

i finished by final demo today, however, after seeing it, i am a little tired of it, while it is very much like a regular metroid, i think i want to do some new stuff after all.

I have been saving an entire plot for awhile, and i think it is finally time for me to put it into action, i will be creating a totally new game.

while i love metroid, its time to stop recycling weapons, and time to start doing some cool stuff.

im going back to my original (and no, i didn’t steal this idea, i had it around for awhile) idea of having the player aim with the mouse.

ima work around with it, and see what i can do, i really wanted to use the metroid sprites from p2d, however, i guess im using zero mission sprites instead, at least until i finish my demo (much shorter than the demo i just finished however)

also, just a warning, the story is a side event, and thus while going in many new and unexpected directions, it shouldn’t mess up anything currently metroid.

basically, im going to take a couple risks.

can we see this demo of yours?

I suppose lots of people have thought of it, but you’re… like… actually doing something with it! :smiley:> Me wanna help, but me prolly don’t got the skillz necessary… still, I know how to use Audacity (so I’m of minor help with music editing), I can sprite powerups (which you’ve probably already dealt with), and I’m good at level design. Which you probably want to do yourself.

i already started working over it (rather than import images), sorry, but it wasn’t anything special, there was only the basic stuff (and only 1 metroid), it was basically from the beginning straight to the first metroid. Trust me though, this next one should progress a little faster, since while it has more advanced features, it is less programming (better programming, or shall i just say less damn sprites needed for aiming combos)

besides that the other remake seems to be coming along nicely, and i thought rather than make 2 remakes, it would be better to create something nobody has seen before.

also, just a warning, it will have phazon in it, no, i am not using some fanboy idea, it has a very good purpose, though i may replace it so that i can keep most of the stuff used original, though it will be extremely hard.

anyways, i will soon say the features of it, and i believe i will rename this topic, rather than make a new one.

ah damnit, i posted back in the past sometime i wouldn’t nuke the remake…

Why dont you come work for M2re?
You seem to be having some trouble with your demos. If so, we already have a fine working engine, as well as a few demos out. We could really use another programmer, and our team is very efficient.

You said you’d rather do something original, but We’d really like to have you on our team. Another programmer could make the long term game a reality.

and yet another fan game that stops due to the lack of interest… sigh, and here i was, looking foward t this remake, i think i will wait for nintendo make one, if someday they do one though…

a remake is already farther underway, so i decided to work with some new things and make something original, thats all.

right now, the new project of mine is progressing much faster than expected, demo might be done in time for christmas.

most of these will be extremely easy except for a few samus movements, weapon system, and misc. the new demo should be out around christmas.

i am making a weapon system, and i cannot decide what the “sonic” weaponry should look like, here they are:

sonic is the gray one, and i am making an ammo system too, so of course the ones to the left of the boxes are the “ammo”

i put the visors on there for kicks, ignore them

done with scan system, the ONLY thing i need to do now is to figure out how to do slopes without glitches, then i have a demo, also, i have worked out a few things and this game is going to work in update.

update: still would like to have a spriter at some point…
