I have just come back from an all night gaming party, where we mainly played halo 3, and guitar hero.
It was damn fun, Halo multiplayer is great fun (Heheheh, my friends were in awe when my plasma grenade knocked a warthog off a small hill, killing the entirety of the opposing team :>. I passed it off as intentional). It’s the best console multiplayer FPS at the moment, but it is nowhere near one of the best fps’.
The story is ‘lol aliens lol generic zombie characters lol EXPLODE THEM ALL’ with a bit of salad dressing. Fun, and a nice edition to the game, but nothing original.
Saying ‘Halo is the star wars of the 21st century and if you don’t like it you’re WRONG, BITCH’ is a very silly thing to say. If that’s star wars, then those films weren’t as good as I remembered.
Oh, and Zurg, the GC was actually more powerful than the PS2, and could hold it’s own with the Xbox, it’s just the devs never did anything with it.
So ya, the ability to get in a ghost, and run me over 19 bloody times, before I plasma grenade you as I jump over you and smash your head in with a rifle is a great thing indeed, but apart from the well-above-average multiplayer, Halo collapses everywhere else.
(After all, I did the whole game on legendary on my first go, lol wuts a challenge durrrrrrrr)

COD4 is good, but I play games entirely for fun, so I don’t care how realistic it is, and in COD4, I can’t rip someone out of a tank, shoot them in the face with it, before sending another guy in a ghost spiralling off a cliff, and going ‘DAMNIT’, when I’m spartan laser’d… again. (One of my friends is a real sniper and laser whore. Yes, that’s the same one who ran me over in a ghost 19 times. He’s too good for me :<)
What would be awesome is if Nintendo picked up on Metroid online, and overhauled it with the Corruption engine. Please?

I think a sort of MMORPGFPS would be great.
Like, instead of level grinding, you’d go down onto planets, and find upgrades and stuff. And have a ship and all.

=/ CoD4, to me, plays mostly like the other CoD games with different weapons. And… meh. Just not my favorite series in the whole world. On the PC, yes, I’d rather play CoD than Halo, but on XBox, I’d go for Halo. Which has nothing to do with being absolutely horrible at CoD on the XBox.

Anyway, yeah, Halo was designed very much for a console, wheras COD4 plays reasonably well on both consoles, and superior formats.
I just downloaded CoD4 a few days ago, after spending hours and hours on it at my friend’s house a couple of weeks ago (360), and I’ve gotta admit, it’s the best darned multiplayer of any game ever. I’ve never played the other CoD’s, though…
Though I can understand where PY’s coming from. Sometimes, you don’t want an adrenaline rush of accurate firing and rushing around corners while getting shot it.
Sometimes, you just want an adrenaline rush of blowing shit up.
Halo is superior for party multiplayer in that respect. You don’t have to be any good to have fun.

COD4 (Cloud, 4 is vastly superior to the others, which were pretty average) is far more skill based, which, I imagine, would make it more fun to one who spent the time learning (I’m far more of an offline guy, give me HL2 over TF2 anyday.)
I must admit, however, I haven’t tried COD4 on the 360, though accurate shooting with that controller makes baby Jesus cry.
CoD4? best console FPS? don’t make me laugh. OK the campaign was good with an engaging if unrealistic story and was overall really good. Now lets get into the bad part. The Multiplayer. Now I know what you CoD/infinity fanboys are thinking “are you high” well no I am not and never have been. Now for my complaint: It’s an unbalanced clusterfuck made of bullshit and grind.
Allow me to expand. lvl 10 and you unlock 2 things; a go to weapon, and the start of the bullshit: lvl 40’s, you know, those bastards who run around killing you at every turn with the FUCKING GAY PIECE OF FUCKING SHIT THE FUCKING GODDAMN P90. and the fact that you need to reach lvl 4 to unlock custom classes and only have to competent weapons available there is worse than needing to unlock Snake and Sonic.
Now the perks are fucktastic and annoying, with suck loads of shit as martyrdom, last stand, juggernaut, m16a4/p90 stopping power, ect
overall, if you’re looking for a competent console FPS and intend to have fun online I recommend avoiding Cock of Doody 4 Modern Gayfuckstupid and going with Gears, Halo 3, The Orange Box, Resistance, or Haze if you’re desperate.
So you’re saying CoD4 is bad because you don’t like unlockable weapons. Okay.
He’s saying that people who’ve played more are better at it, and that isn’t fair.
He’s saying that getting better weapons as you get better at the game isn’t fair, because the lower levels get owned by the better weapons. Although if you’re better at the game, it shouldn’t matter. But it’s a bit unfair for the newbies.
