You need less shading in games than in art. No one’s picking apart games sprite by sprite and seeing if they’re shaded.
In art, all the focus is centered on the looks. If you’re going to make artwork, you need to make it look good.
PS I’m not saying you don’t have to make game sprites look good, I’m saying it’s not as important.
Et modit! <_<; I couldn’t care less about how it looks, you see the sword? Yes. You see its colors? Yes. Thats it, thats all you need, you get the idea of what it would be like, and also it wouldn’t cut wrist to all of you who think so. It may look pointy in that angle but it could be rounded of flatened against your wrist. As you can tell I don’t want CC on this, I just wanted to show you guys.

And in Final Fantasy, they never had a sword that big with a handle that small. It’s ridiculous. Yeah, so Cloud can hold a huge sword one handed, but the handles still make sense.
…The handle isn’t that small, if it helps the sword is light. And go ahead comment, I aint going to fix it, I clearly stated that. I maily work on my sprites, nothing more. Now quit this nonsence. I won’t even bother relying if I read another comment on the Z-Strike.

I think I can say this better in a post than I can in MSN, so…
Improving one-time things is the only way to improve sprites, believe it or not. And if you didn’t spend much time on the sword, just made it because you felt like it, decided to show it in here, and don’t want any feedback, just ignore the feedback. Even if you’re not wanting to spend anymore time on it, others may want to learn from this as well, so don’t throw C+C out the window, just ignore it for now.
Edit: Also, just so this doesn’t get spammy or any more off-topic, please don’t respond with “lol i agree w/ him” or anything that means the same thing.
Hey, if you saw my old sprites, you know what C+C can do for you. Id say im in the ranks of “Decent” spriters now, while all my old projects were pathetic pixel messes. So take the comments, harsh, or not, and either ignore them, or take them, and possibly, improve.
so your saying, MZ isnt decent at spriting because he doesnt take CC? He said he doesn’t want CC on that sword. It isn’t a sprite(why does everyone think that an image of a 2D sword is a sprite?
