Cool story, I was at EB Games looking for this but they had already sold all they could to walk-in customers. I had looked everywhere else for this game but no luck, They had the full game on they’re demo Wii so I decided that I could get a little time with the game. As I was playing one of the employees started talking to me about how great the game was. When I told him that I couldn’t find MP3:C locally and was going to try to find it at some Walmarts, he said screw Walmart I’ll sell you my pre-order cause I don’t have time to play it at home and I can just play it here. Needless to say he made my day.
Well, there is definitely a larger amount of “alone time” in the game than I thought. But as I feared, the switching of planets and the occasional contact with the Federation keeps you from becoming immersed. The game just has a really shallow feeling to me.
And Retro’s desire to prevent SBing really killed the realism in the environment. You can’t stand on any of the background objects, even the ones that you REALLY should be able to, you just slide off.
Personally I find Bryyo to be the closest to the classic Metroid experience that any Prime has gotten yet. Varied environments explored within a single planet, lots of enemies with, classic pirates, alien worlds that actually feel alien… the Federation bit doesn’t bug me much, though I did turn the hints off.
I do find the lack of save points annoying. Checkpoints help, sure, but only if you plan on continuing to play, and I tend to quit after dying. >_>; And even when I don’t, it doesn’t let me backtrack to power up so I CAN beat a boss or something.
Haha, yeah, I was well into Bryyo, and I thought to myself: “Wow, this actually feels like Metroid”. And then I was interrupted by the Mother Brain thing. >_< It’s like Retro is dangling a string in front of my cat self, and pulling it away at the last second.
So yeah, the first hour sucked badly, and so far the rest is better, but the problem(s) I addressed in my last post is still a big issue that keeps me from enjoying this game.
Gah spoilers!!! >.< anyway, my order was shipped sometime today and SHOULD get it between next Tuesday and Thursday. I also ordered the players guide from Prima and it should be in about the same time. so yeah =D
EDIT: Also where theres a will theres a way 072. Someone WILL find ways to SB and SW MP3 eventually just watch.
So it’s really going to be that hard to find this game? I feel the sales wont slow down in a month. I warned my dad (because even WII’S are sold out in many places here), but I guess I’ll just have to do battle with reality.
I was just wondering, are there any interesting re-occuring characters in the game? Like hunters from MPH, or anything? And are Siriacus and Vol Paragom in the game as well? That’d make my day.
One of the features that I really like is the research satellite launcher in Elysia. It reveals maps and suit upgrades & expansions. It’s in Super Metroid where there’s a white dot indicating an expansion on the map but it displays an X if you already have it. A lot of the dots are outside the room mesh indicating a secret path is needed to be found.

Working on that. BTW, CHECKPOINTS FTW W00T!!!
Although I’ve just used my first, it’s very nice to have. I’m not sure how I got corrupted , the terminal corruption scene was kickass though >_>;
I never intend to use hyper mode unless I’m utterly forced to. Phazon is the root of all evil.
I’ve only used it four times, and I’ve beaten that one guy. It was excellent, I finished with one energy left. No hyper mode. The music was godly.
Yeah this game is great. The Federation barking up you ass every thirty seconds can get annoying, but I just consider that this is one of Samus’s more active missions. I just think the ship is a big portable elevator.
