Just about everybody that needs saving in a videogame acts like that. The first one is the most-used yet least-logical of them all. The second is also unoriginal and gets old fast. The third is basically the same as the second. The fourth is probably what someone would say in Spiderman 2 the game. (Since, IIRC, you have to get purses back in that game, and Spiderman 2 the game has to be the king of repetitive people-saving games)
Lol, yeah, mabye it was redsteel where I heard those. Could be another game though.
@072: You’re right, but ONLY about what we’ve seen so far. They said that the bulk of the game would be exploration. The beggining is very linear, but apparently ONLY the beggining. Time will tell, but from what Ive heard you’ll get
Because you already obviously know exactly what’s in an unreleased game you’ve never played well enough to say it removed every aspect of Metroid based soley on the first stage.
Besides, MP still has plenty of platforming. All it got rid of was the 2D.
I’ve seen the first hour, and I know enough about the game to know that the rest won’t get much better. Do you really think the GFeds and Hunters are unique to the first stage? Do you think the fact that there ARE “stages” is unique to the first stage?
I can’t lie, that’s pretty logical, but they promised us exploration. They promised to maintain what Metroid is about, though I wonder if they can. It might not get “how you want it”, but It WILL get alot better.
Oh shit, Orpheon was pretty stage-like. So was Ceres. And hell, even Norfair, Brinstar, and the like could be considered stages by a stretch of the imagination. Semantically deciding ‘stages = linear’ is complete bullshit.
But I suppose bullshit like that’s about par for the course.
I believe when we get past the point of getting corrupted, the adventure and puzzle solving will pick up. The first hour plus a bit is there to set the stage for the entire game. Corruption is the focal point in this game, and we’ve not gotten that far yet. Wait till the stage is completely set, till when stop bitching.
Lol, I remember that fanfic. It was really good reading, what happened?
But I’d like it to feel like MP3 is actually a continuity of the prime series.
To me, prime3 feels like its own fiction within the prime series, more less the prime series. I want it to really feel like the sequel to prime 2. It just feels like they threw all this stuff in there to create something new (sorta like what 072 was saying).
That would be extremely cool if they did. Even if they have no real significance in the MP3 story, it’d be nice to read scans about what they’ve been up to since they left Zebes, explore them, and maybe even fight Meta Kraid or Meta Crocomire or whatever they may have been carrying.
No, the game is going to be linear because that’s what Retro Studios does. They designed MP and MP2 to be quite linear, but they made the game loose enough for it to be “broken”, but now they seem hell-bent on forcing the path they intended people to take on the player. They tried with Echoes, but, luckily, failed. With the multiple planets and objectives in this game, it looks like they are going to succeed this time.
The Space Stations were just short intros into the game. They weren’t levels. And you know as well as I do that Brinstar and Norfair aren’t either, they’re really just there to give the environment variety.
Are you referring to sequence breaking and stuff? Ive actually never sequence broken anything in a metroid game. It just feels like a waste. Im terribly OCD about skipping things and not going in order.
But chances are it’ll be MUCH harder to break ANYTHING in MP3.
