Lmao, yeah. I had hust realized my Wii was glowing blue. I was pleasently suprised that it was about Mp3 (IGN will get hell for this lol).
Its really cool. If you see it on your Wii, its all the more hyping.
We learned the other 2 hunters names, though I only remember the robots, Ghor. I must admit, this update changed my perspective 360. I cant FUCKING wait for this game now.
Btw, I think they upped the speed of the powerbeam a little, but the guy in the demo was really good.
Lmao, I knew you wouldn’t take kindly to this. But hell, on Wikipedia (I just noticed), they said that the game will Highlight the exploration aspects of the Prime Series.
Sure you’ll prolly be cringing at every turn when you seem something Haloish, but I think you’ll like the gameplay.
Okay, so the game has become Haloized. It looks WAAAAAAAAAAAAY more fricken awsome because of that. I must admit I’m looking forward to the new hunters. Gandrayda is the purple lady, though I must say Ghor looks the most badass. Im glad to see he will be helping you with Berserker Pirates.
And the Scinematics look fricken awsome. I really can’t wait.
Except Halo 3 does it a million times better, so what’s the point? This game ISN’T going to be good at being Halo, and it isn’t even trying to be good at being Metroid… so all that’s left is a game that sucks.
How do you know Halo 3 does ANYTHING beter than MP3 other than graphics? This game wont be Halo, and it wont be the original metroid prime either.
But it WILL be something different, something better in every aspect except some pessimist on a metroid forum doesn’t like change. This game WILL be good, even if it’s not a good metroid game.
Super Mario Sunshine wasn’t quite Mario 64, but it was still good.
Have a fricken open mind. Trying to deflect anything positive about the game wont help, especially when you miss out on something great.
When something positive about the game is revealed, please let me know.
I had hope for a lot of games-- Fusion, MP2, Hunters… they all looked good before I actually played them. Metroid Prime 3 doesn’t. Not even remotely. Not as a Metroid game, not as a Halo game, not as anything. If I didn’t know any better, I would think that Retro Studios was going out of their way to create the worst game they possibly could. How anyone interprets that as something great, to me, is mind boggling. To say the least.
“Better”, in this case, is all an opinion and no Metroid fan is guaranteed to call MP3 that. Metroid is a game series where you play as a single bounty hunter who was sent on a mission by herself to a lonely planet teeming with dangerous creatures. You explore deeper and deeper into the planet, find hidden and interesting upgrades all over, and eventually do enough to be able to fight the final boss and escape. You’re all by yourself and you have no contact with the outside world. Or… universe.
Metroid Prime 3 shows her other side. The side where she deals with smaller missions on small portions of different planets and interacts with the GF a lot. It feels like a military and like you’re a part of some army. You team up with a few other magical bounty hunters who help you out. The last two Metroid Primes were nothing like this, and every Metroid game before was nothing like it, except for maybe bits and pieces from Fusion.
Sure, I haven’t played it yet, and some people might like it, and I might even like it. But I really don’t know what to think, other than that it’s not going to satisfy my hunger for a new true Metroid game. I’ve never liked when militaries and armies are a focus of games, ever, and everything else doesn’t look promising either. It’s like seeing through a person’s sprite and knowing exactly how every part of it could be majorly improved, even though they did the whole thing wrong overall (maybe way too small or something) and yet everyone seems to like it except you and the spriter won’t change it. That’s the feeling I’m getting from this game so far (only 072’s with me). >_>
Also, SM64 to SMS isn’t a good analogy, because the games are very similar.
Edit:
I’m trying to be optimistic, though. I thought the beginning of the first new trailer was cool, and the rest of it wasn’t so bad. The cutscenes still look horribly cheesy and overdone, but…
I’ve always been a nintendo boy, so I haven’t gotten a good taste of a nice shooter that everyone likes. Redsteel was sorta entertaining, but it WASN’T what I wanted. Halo is a good game, but the adventure mode doesn’t float my boat. I want a game that feels like fantasy, but still feels in universe. Twilight princess did a pretty good job, but it wasn’t quite the level of Immersion in game as well as gameplay that I’ve been waiting for. Metroid prime 1 was very immersive, but there wasn’t the same level of story immersion that I hope MP3 will have. Some of Metroid prime 2’s story elements felt great (the whole GF thing was a nice touch), though the Luminoth, ING thing felt Cliche, and didn’t feel in game.
Samus has always been the janitor, cleaning up the aftermath of some big war or something. Now samus gets to take part in it. I don’t want samus to feel like a soldier, I want samus to feel like a bounty hunter, and I’m feeling the vibe MP3 is giving. Mabye I’m the most excited because I don’t play other shooters, but like Haloish Elements.
