Contrast aside, that looks pretty damn good!
Isn’t it a bit big, though?

In comparison to samus, that looks damn huge, but it also looks fantastically detailed, well done!
@Daz, that sig transcends awesome. u u u aua!
Thanks. Actually, I made it slightly smaller than it should be. Those things take up most of the wall.
Oh yeah, and the current Artifacts are due tomorrow night. (Hopefully that’s not a surprise to anyone)
Whoa. Nice work on the rust.
Synthetic Metroid Ration Mix Processor:
This machine is built into the rocky walls, so those unfinished ends will be covered up. Yeah, the spinning lights are a little lame.
And here’s the variation on it, the Phazon Nutrient Vat:
I don’t know what I was thinking, but the number of frames between the spinning lights and the phazon don’t match up, so the phazon doesn’t flow continuously in the animation. It wouldn’t matter in-game though. Anyway, one of Metroid_Zapper’s computer monitors should be placed in that empty rectangle.
Yay 12 hours of work.
Edit: Oh yeah, final drafts of the Artifacts are due tonight.
Remember that they should be PM’d to me, or else I’ll have to assume they’re not completely finished. You can still turn them in any time past the deadline, but the deadline is there for your convenience.
Holy crap. That’s pretty sexy. The lights could use work, but beyond that… <33
Wow, that’s neat.
As the Chozo Timer ticks itself closer and closer to 0, you dash down the familiar damp hallway, skillfully-obtained Artifacts in hand. At last, after a month of traveling and intense stealthy situations in the Space Pirate labs, you soar over the stairs, skid around the corners, and move into the cold air of the Artifact Temple.
Standing beneath the center totem, grinning, you watch as the Chozo Timer reaches 0. Nothing happens.
Glancing around nervously, you suddenly notice a transcription reading, "Remember to place the Artifacts inside the statues before the time runs out!" You also remember that you left some of the Artifacts back at your ship.
Remember that final submissions have to make their way from your hard drive into my PM inbox. You can turn your Artifacts in at any time, as the deadline only exists for your convenience, but it helps to meet the deadline.
Corny story excerpt aside, this next month is Tallon Overworld Month. But the current Artifacts… are to be determined.
Why? Well, I included pretty much all of Tallon Overworld in one Artifact called “TO Tileset”, since I didn’t really know what we’d consider a tile or not. Now I realize that it has to be divided into smaller parts: branch bridges, branches, vines, rocks, dirt, rock, rock backgrounds, dirt backgrounds, moss, mossy backgrounds, sand, etc. … Except that we already have a TO tileset including some of that… except it’s not the best, so we should work on a new one… except that Slothien already was, before he left. It’d be hard to beat his latest version, even though it’s not very complete. What to do.
I’m also not sure how we’d even go about making some of that. Branches? They’re everywhere, in every style, in every possible position. Do we sprite them all separately, or divide them into parts that could decently construct a bunch of them? Same with the mountainous trees, among other things.
So I’ll ponder this little dilemma further, and I’m open to suggestions in the meantime. Basically the issue is how to classify the resources needed (what are tiles, what are backgrounds, what are background tiles, what are specific, what are general) and what to do about the tileset.
I’d have different types in different sets, as in, grassy in one, rocky in another, watery in yet another, so and so forth.
Then stick them together later, make them easier to deal with.
I’m wondering if I can do the Ferns (“Tallon Fern” I think) and those blue glowing mushrooms you see in the second overworld room (if you go the way your supposed to).
Edit: I will also be working on my fusion suit. However, I was wondering if you could tell me: does the current samus sprite get shorter on side view, and how many frames is the run animation? (this is so I can closely match mine to the current one)
I made it quite clear in the other topic why you should not mess with the Fusion Suit yet.
Meh, fine. I guess I’ll get to work on glowing shrooms then!
Edit: Grrrr… I can’t find any screens of them, and I am unable to access the game right now… this sucks.
Edit 2: Ok, I’ve done some grass, 2 tallon fern things, a random root, and some other plant. Can’t post them now, because I’m browsing on Wii. I’m sure once I post them you’ll have something for me to fix, but I think they look good.
Edit 3: Nevermind. I just got access to the game, and…the prior sprites sucked. Now I have done 1 accurate view…more to come! (once again I can’t post pics, I’m on wii)
List updated. The new Artifacts are due April 27th. This time the descriptions of the Artifacts are in the first post, and I’ve labeled them with their difficulty.
Two larges, two mediums, four smalls.
I’m avoiding the tileset issue altogether until I can contact Slothien about it. For now, it’s just some important enemies, objects, and plants.
If this is the right place to claim ill claim seedling
Hm. I was already working on it, but I never actually claimed it, so I guess if you want, you can do it… but if so, let me know, because the reason I didn’t post until now was that I was getting the models ripped from the game for reference.
Sorries but tell me if you like this!

(colors were derived directly from the game)
and what do you mean by 3d models?
-What I do is go to Metroid2002 to view a video. take screen shot and rip the colors
Colors picked out of the game rarely, if ever, look good in sprite form, unfortunately.
More importantly, those aren’t… sprites, per se. It looks like you cut/paste banged together some unshaded entity.
EDIT:
Also, if you don’t know what he means by “3d models”, then how do you know he was talking about 3d models…? He just said “models”.
are they 3d models cuz I just supposed they would be idk and I see what you meen… but it does look good zoomed though
nooo I was only showing you one of the sprites ignore the things at the top. well. I am very confused what program are we supposed to be using anyway?
… Okay, yeah, I’m gonna go ahead and do the seedling. >_>; No offense intended.
i know… i tried i suck, I suck bad…
