Platform: When you feel you’re done, just be sure to post (or get someone to post) it animated, to make sure the flames work and the whole thing in action looks complete.
Phazon: Well, there aren’t many rooms in which the phazon forms a flat surface. Next I would try to add tons of irregular surface tiles, like the vine one I posted earlier. You can sort of mix these tiles with the bulbs and other junk that sits on top if you want.
I have a question, for anyone, that I don’t have the time to answer myself at the moment. How does regular phazon animate? I know there are circular particles that float out with electricity zapping its way around, but those will be programmed I’m sure. I know the bulbs’ liquid insides spin around slowly, but does the other stuff, like the vines, animate? If so, how? That info would help a lot.
Phazon itself doesn’t animate. It’s actually 1 model and texture in-game, pasted over and over and over and over.
We do need liquid phazon though. It does exist in Prime. I looked. It’s weird though…if you look directly at it it fades out and semi-sorta disappears.
That’s good to hear. Then only the bulbs will have sprited animations on regular phazon.
Liquid phazon… I remember that. It’s usually below the floors in Pirate-built mine passages, right? For example, the first room past the elevator from Tallon IV. Right?
It should probably treated as a regular liquid in the game, like lava and water. In which case it could simply be a recolor of lava, if we get lazy. >_>
Well, if you want, you could also do the section edges. As in, the vines trail off and end, where we would stick cave tiles behind. It would look neat, but it would be even more work.
I finally have a bunch of free time and motivation, but the first post is still listing artifacts from October. The way my page settings are laid out it’s being a real pain to go back and try to find the latest list. Could we get the first post updated or something? I’d like to help out again for once, but I dunno what to do.
Something seems off about the Phazon to me when it’s in that big bunch like that. It looks too flat, I think. But then, I guess there won’t be many patches that big in the game…
It looks like all the current Artifacts are taken. Since they’re just suggestions anyway, you can pick anything you want. I recommend unfinished sprites from the past, but if you want to start something new, there is always the official sprite list to look through. If even this leaves you stumped, you can copy the unclaimed ones into Notepad, number them, and use a random integer generator. (I have a Random Artifact Generator program uploaded, but its list is already pretty outdated)

That looks quite good, although the edges of the orb things should be bumpy due to the phazon wrapping around them. The orbs also should actually be sticking out of the phazon instead of sort of “blobbing out” of them. Basically, they’re orbs in the ground. Not extensions to it.
And also, work on both sizes of phazon. I do believe MP had some spots with smaller/larger phazon.
You can at least cut the colours down to 8-14, because for now it’s like 23, which means you could cut that to a third or half as much.
->Pomegranate: It took me a bit of time to recognise this . You’ll need to work on the humming (I can’t remember the exact term for this… arpeggio? chorus? :s) and I’ve got the impression you’ve got the wrong notes- and the slower speed is not done by accident?
