Stickers to power up your characters? That was a fucking curveball. When did they have time to do all this stuff? I guess its sorta cool, but not the kind of thing I would have expected at all. I guess it’s cool, as long as it’s balanced enough.
Balance is still important (I was aware that its only availible in single player). I mean how strong the power ups are in relation to each other and how they affect gameply (they seem to be really complicated, when you see power ups like leg:+6). If your legs are powered up, what happens? Do you run faster? Are your kicking attacks more powerful? I found that a very strange way to do it.
We dont know much about the system, but Im curious as to how it’ll work exactly, since it doesnt seem like conventional power ups.
And yeah, it definetly sounds better now than it did back when I heard about it.
I’m pretty sure “leg +6” means it adds 6% damage to leg/foot attacks, i.e. kicking and stomping. Balance doesn’t matter worth balls in the campaign–you level up your character, build him to be more powerful, and then fight masses of random enemies and bosses that don’t fight anything like real opponents would. It’s not like it’s just one-on-one matches with minor conditions like in the previous games.
The campaign will be self-balanced by length and difficulty. There are balance upsets in things like event matches, but you can’t really have one character be better at EVERYTHING in the campaign, even with stickers.
Tim, that’s exactly why they only allow a certain number of stickers on each character. Otherwise, you could create some godly character that can beat single-player on extra hard with both hands tied behind the actual players back.
Honestly, it’s JUST a VC marketing strategy in my opinion. If they wanted you to enjoy the games, they’d give you the whole thing.
I mean, it’s probably becasue I’ve already played all those games, but I dont feel it fits in with super smash brothers to have demos of the characters games.
