There are only a few things I will say in this topic, because I know that if I post too much it will get out of hand.
For starters, I respect religious people; I simply just find it so illogical. If you run around rainbows waiting for fairies and pots of gold, you will be found as a complete lunatic, yet if you don’t believe that some God created you and the universe you live in, and don’t warship them, you are shunned by society. That’s hypocritical and illogical IMO.
Secondly, if God created the universe, then why is there so much scientific data that is constantly being found? I’m sure that God wouldn’t want to create something that would contradict the fact that he created humans and the universe, and a superior being would surely not make such a mistake.
Another thing is to simply make people feel better about other people dying. Personally, I think that the atheist way is more correct, and that people simply stop existence (well, their body is still there, but their actual body function stops working and their body decays). Saying that you relive after death is a nice feeling, but really, immortality would be a cruel thing, and it has caused tons of people to think that mistakes and bad choices will go away in an afterlife, when they really are stuck with everyone else.
Plus, religion has fueled things like racism, etc. I think that it in itself is bearable, but the madness it has caused is unbearable.
Plus, it does not matter if a person is homosexual or not - they can still contribute to society, whether it is in the form of babies or not. You don’t complain if a heterosexual dies and doesn’t have babies (by choice), but if a homosexual is not able to have babies, you complain? What is the problem?
Also, another thing - yes, humans as a species weren’t designed to uses the resources as they are currently. However, the fact that we do more in our lives than find food is astounding and makes us at a higher level of intelligence. Intelligence can be measured in several ways, resourcefulness being one of them, and recreation being another. If the human race can do both of those things, then it is very intelligent, and that is a good thing - why complain?
