I don’t know why, but this made me lol for, like, 5 minutes. Awesome.
@Zurg
Not if you run them at the same resolution.
Let them battle in 640x480px and 60Hz.
DS would still win: It has more ram, faster CPUs and GPUs, more texture fillrate, etc.
The DS would die at that resolution. ![]()
DS renders 2 screens at once.
but very rarely does it actually render 3d environments in both of those screens at the same time. Usually one is for the HUD, etc (2d gfx), and one is for the 3d gfx.
But for games like Zelda Phantom Hourglass it is in fact doing just that, though looking worse than an N64 game, I’ll grant that that is probably because it is rendering these things twice at 192p
Hello, Bluecan here. The 3DS will cost US$249.99 when it comes out on the 27th. First post, btw. It’s already out in Japan! I’m prolly going to wait until the novelty has worn off, then get one, after a newer version has come out. With the new analog stick, do you think they’ll abolish the touch screen? xD. I hope to god they don’t. And I’m atheist too!
you could have just edited your old post >_>
And no, they did not ‘abolish’ the touch screen, The analog slider exists because analog is generally a good thing to have for the more modern 3D games being played on the system.
Got mine at midnight launch in UK. And fuck me its awesome! You really do believe your eyes.
I got lego star wars and pilot wings, which are both great.
Faceraiders and the AR card games are seriously cool to.
No console has ever impressed me as much as the 3DS. Buy it if you can it is seriously worth it.
Man… I’m really close to having enough money… It’ll probably be another few weeks for me before I can get one. =/
I really want to get the RE game and maybe the MGS game.
You can get the MGS game on PS2, or if you have a 2.5GHz dual core processor on your PC.
I got mine pretty much the second the store opened… And so far, I’m having mixed feelings on this device. Yes, the 3D works well and is fun to look at, but the battery life is simply atrocious! Fans of the DS were already angry when the DS Lite’s 10 hour battery life got bumped down to 7-8 Hours of life on the DSi, and now they’ve made it only barely last 5 hours! I was using it on medium brightness with “power-saving” mode on, and I managed to reach critical battery level in one sitting. I like the inclusion of the analog stick, but they placed the D-Pad so low on the system I can barely play any of my older games! The analog stick doesn’t work well when using it in place of the D-Pad either, I constantly lost control of the character in my games. One of the biggest dissapointments I’ve come across so far, is that several of the features of the 3DS have been locked until a firmware update is released in late May. Features like: Web browser, 3DS store, and Data Transfer are blocked! Another thing, why have they removed picto-chat completely? I’ve been waiting for years for them to finally upgrade it, so it can be used online. Oh sure, you’re going to tell me the reason is because they don’t want children talking to random strangers, right? Well, there are lots of DS games out there that come with their own chat clients built in. It would have been simple to just add a friend code system to it. Why are some DSi features now missing? They removed all those nifty camera features! It would have been great if they left them in, and just added the new ones on top of the old ones, not a complete replacement. I’m hoping that the improved hardware capabilities are enough to balance all these negative aspects. I’ve yet to play an actual 3DS game, as I havn’t seen any available in stores. Anyway, that was my rant on what I’ve seen so far.
There are assloads of games in the backroom of the Future Shop my buddy works at, though no hardware to be seen since around 1 hour after opening time yesterday, though there are more copies of games like steel diver, nintendogs and madden then real games like SSF4 3D and Rayman. When I played SSF4 at a trial event on Saturday I didn’t have any problem with the d-pad though.
