The Cell processor isn’t that great. You have one dictator (the PPE) that tells the poor cores what to do, and then it must take a look at the work so it can see that it is done right. A bottleneck? Sure seems that way.
I love the whole “Console vs. PC” idea you guys have going on.
I play console games because they are fun in their own right. The same goes for PC games. Who the fuck cares how many cores they use as long as they’re fun?
Example: Crysis, a shining jewel amidst PC gaming, will never become popular. Why? because it’s a PC game, plain and simple. Sure, it’s fucking beautiful, and if you can get over the glitchy area in it, it’s the most fun you’ll have with your PC until the world comes to an end. Hell, it’ll probably be the most fun you’ll ever have.
Halo 3, the game hailed as one of the greatest of the modern console games on the market, will be as popular in 5 years as it is now. Why? Because it’s a console game and is easy to play. You don’t need to know how many cores your system has, or what kind of RAM you’re running. You just put the disc in and play.
Point: Some people like PC games. Some people like console games. Some people like both. The rest of the planet doesn’t give a shit either way, so why waste time arguing over which is superior?
Sorry, just felt like being the neutral douche that calls both sides out on their pointless argument.
And PC racing, flying, platform and Role playing games suck because you have to play with the keyboard and the mouse. And it’s harder than using a gamepad.
You see how stupid that sounds?
“Yes, because I can connect a gamepad to my PC!”
True.
And I can connect a keyboard and a mouse to my console when I play FPS games. But all console FPS games are optimized for console gamers and gamepads so It’s just dumb.
Stick to PC when you play your FPS games instead and miss out on all the online fun Xbox 360 players have. Playing PC games online is teh sux most of the time.
