Haha okay, sure, that would be the standard size for a sidescrolling retro game … but anyways, to fix the problem of annoying people like me getting frustrated with that giant veiwport, just make the game resizable. Or have different screen size options ^.^
EDIT :: Oh, and by the way, when I say different screen size, I dont actually mean the port itself, I really mean the resolution. So like an emulator, have 1x, 2x, ect …
But thanks for clearing that up … I was wondering which you meant exactly. FYI it would not be possible/feasible for me to change the actual viewport since a lot of in-game display methods as well as measurements for individual map-blocks depends on the viewport size.
But yea … I will give an option for a “mini” resolution later on (should be 320x240 … the actual viewport size).
Well I’m not sure … the Wings are original … but possibly the the body is an edit of the original SM Ridley. There are some detailed differences though.
Once I have everything as I want it I intend to nut out a few stories and start a real fan-game putting more effort into the atmosphere side of things: story intro, events, better level design/artwork, original bosses etc.
I just put in a new attack for Ridley, a fly-by fireball rain attack. He moves off screen then flies by horizontally spitting fireballs as he goes. He’s invulnerable to attacks while he does this but you can shoot the fireballs to get items back (you can shoot the other ones too but these ones are easier to hit). He has a 20% chance to perform this attack on his next “Action switch”.
I think I’m about ready to release 1.3d. Atm I find Meta Ridley as very hard to beat without cheating and with 100% items. I intend to release the first version as hard as I can make him without being too frustrating/repetitive. I’ll then see what people think … then go from there. I have no doubt some people will say its “impossible”, but for all I know it may be me who sux and its actually really easy.
I estimate 1.3d will be ready within the next 2 days.
hmm … usually its fine as long as you change it to something that was never one of the default keys. Changing keys doesnt unset the default keys yet … I will get to this later.
