Here are some new screenshots for Metroid: Other M. Team Ninja’s new adventure - which will be released in the US on 27 June - promises to tell the personal story of Samus Aran.
The story will begin immediately after the events of Super Metroid when a baby Metroid gave its life to protect Samus. You’ll learn the backstory of Samus during this action packed adventure aboard the Bottle Ship, a decommissioned space facility. She’ll also encounter her first mentor and Commanding Officer of the Galactic Federation, Adam Malkovich.
As we learned last year, Other M blends first person and third person action. You’ll hold the Wii Remote controller sideways while navigating and battling in third person. At any moment, you can switch to Wii Remote pointer controls to examine and explore the environments from a first-person perspective.
Instead of the ‘X-ray visor’, it’s now the ‘FPS visor’. xD
As of now, I have a feeling this game is gonna rock. The fact that it’s not Wii-mote and nun-chuck puts to ease my fears they would tack on motion control.
Here’s what I think. Adam gave Samus a command that she didn’t like, which caused her to quit working under the Galactic Federation and became a Bounty Hunter. That’s about all I could surmise from the trailer, that and Samus regretted doing something.
Didn’t the Manga have her working exclusively for the Galactic Federation? I’m not sure, it’s been a while since I’ve read it.
Also, I think you’re right. Maybe she stopped taking jobs from the Galactic Federation? I’m only surmising about plot points, for all I know, it’s completely different.
All the talk of being young and naive (coupled with that flashback where Samus looked appalled at whatever Adam said) made me think that it had something to do with Adam betraying Samus in some form, probably by giving an order she didn’t agree with.
