Bump. You can find an article on the Official Nintendo Magazine , news section, 13-Jan-2010 11:23 AM. Here
It States: Nintendo has reiterated its commitment to releasing Metroid: Other M in 2010. We’ve seen little of Samus’ new adventure since the announcement at E3 but Other M will definitely be coming out for Wii this year.
Nintendo released a statement responding to claims that Metroid Prime Trilogy was being discontinued: “Nintendo’s Metroid Prime: Trilogy is the ultimate collector’s edition experience for fans of the Metroid Prime series, combining all three critically acclaimed games on one disc with Wii motion controls. Copies of the game are currently available at major retailers nationwide. The next highly anticipated offering in the Metroid franchise is Metroid: Other M, which will be available this year.”
So we could have new Metroid, Mario and Zelda games this year, along with Pok?mon HeartGold/SoulSilver. It doesn’t get much better for Nintendo fans.
Yeah, and I’m pissed the fuck off about it. Never have I been so angry that Nintendo isn’t saying anything about one of their upcoming games. All we know is what was in the trailer, almost a year ago. Seriously Nintendo, give us something here.
I think Nintendo is trying to find the right balance for advertising games, and with Other M, they’re underhyping rather than overhyping. That, or Other M is still a ways away end Nintendo is getting ready for a mass marketing campaign.
Nintendo has launched a teaser site for Metroid: Other M, and it shows that the game is really going in an interesting new direction.
When the site starts up you hear Samus talking in Japanese, followed by some incredible piano music.
Piano music? In Metroid? Yup, and it sounds great.
In case you’re wondering what she says, it’s been translated by a member of the NeoGAF forum as “A dream. It’s as if I was watching a playback of a tragedy that really happened.”
The site also says it’s out in Japan in Summer 2010, but other than that there’s no new information.
Metroid co-creator Yoshio Sakamoto is promising an emotional return for Samus in Metroid: Other M.
Sakamoto told Famitsu that he plans to get under the suit of Samus to reveal her human side.
“This time we’re strongly depicting the human side of Samus through such things as movies. She’s a strong woman, but she also has a fragile side. We want to make a game whose charms can be felt from the story areas and these human touches as well. It’s an action game, but it’s capable of having a clear emotional side.”
He went on to say the the project was progessing well although the size of the project did cause some problems in development. “This Metroid is being developed with the aim of the ideal form of the old Metroid,” he added. “It’s a game that can be realized because of the Wii.”
