Wait, if the Halos are modified for gameplay purposes and therefore you can make MC Superman because he’s presented that way in some books, doesn’t Samus get the same chance? Or is it that just because she hasn’t been in anything else we can’t say the same about her? Because she has been in something other than the games… something official.
So I think I’m going to give you a taste of what that kind of logic is like by using it on the other side of the argument. I’m going to use the official Nintendo Power Metroid Prime comic to judge Samus.
Let’s see, according to this thing, she can kill Thardus with only a few shots, and Ridley with a second of the Flamethrower. That makes her weapons uber-powerful, and therefore, if you compare the health and damage systems of both games, that means she can kill MC with one power beam shot.
So while Samus is encased in her Power Suit (as she always is in combat situations and on missions) she can put a hole through about anything.
…
Yeah, you can’t use MC and Samus from their games because of gameplay elements, but you can’t use them as they are represented in books because Samus hasn’t been in any books. When I realized this a while ago I just gave up the whole argument… but that paragraph you wrote there was just too biased. Samus would get no chance against MC at all simply because there have been no Metroid books, or you forgot about those equality rules you learn in math… quite unfair.
Comics are stylized, simply because of the medium they are. Samus fought Thardus in a three-page issue that had other happenings, as well; therefore, the entire fight could not be represented. If there was an official novel based on the Metroid universe, it could be accepted, since novelizations are the only mediums in which stylization, exclamation, and balance do not come into effect. The Chief is represented fully in the novels because those(other than being officially endorsed by Bungie) don’t need to change anything about him. The games have to dumb him down in order for the game to be enjoyable by the player; the upcoming comic books will likely power him up because that’s more fun for a comic book.
At any rate, Samus’ flamethrower being able to take Ridley from the skies in a few seconds is irrelevant, since she still has to actually find and hit the Chief.
And, as a reminder, in case anyone is forgetting, I am not saying that the Chief would be able to defeat Samus. I don’t believe either would win; their strengths and weaknesses offset each other far too much. The battle would end in a draw.
yeah, i read the metroid prime comic. ridley dies easily there, so mc cant be to hard. but if he can run kelometers in seconds, that would give him more of a chance.and if she can kill him with one power beam shot, then since wave beam is stronger, and homes in, she can back him into a corner and fire away.
but really, i dont think they would actually fight if they met. they are both heroes, and they would probably just team up to kill there enemies.
but in a race to escape an exploding space colony, samus would roll out of a small hole and chief would stand there and die, screaming “AHHHHHHHH SAVE ME JESUS”!!!
Have you forgotten what you stated in your own post? The Chief can cover great distances. No way he’d be get taken out in a space station countdown–there is proof of this because he, and three other Spartans, escaped the explosion of the Unyielding Hierophant, the Covenant mobile war-facility.
I have to agree with that one. The canon story’s descriptions of the Spartans depicts them as if they were real. Samus, on the otherhand, has not (and probably will not) be featured in any novelization, so the exact aspects of her powers are an unknown. I don’t believe you could compare them without a source like a book, so any argument at this point seems to be pointless.
geeze, i would hope you had a life…i mean…2 or 3 posts is one thing…but some of you…sigh…this topic is just killin me!
…listen, different quantum reality…well…fantasy…whatever…anyway! i think most of us can simply drop the topic, it really all comes to a matter of personal opinion.
If Samus was represented at full power, she would beat MC from the game with her left pinkie, and would die if she fought the book version.
Anyone who disagrees?
I’m in an affirmative mood.
<_<
But yeah, I knew I shouldn’t post that, I just felt like I should be mean every now and then.
Rephrasal: Metroid Fanatic, you were flaming. King Metroid, that’s a very fanboyish statement. Butch… actually, there’s nothing wrong with you. I just felt that if I was gonna boss people around, I should boss three people around. shrug You’re good, keep doing what you’re doing.
I’ll have to boss troid around instead.
Troid, I’m not gonna close this, because I want people to realize that the argument is as resolved as it’s gonna be, and that’s close enough. This topic ought to die on its own, since it’s not technically breaking any rules. I’m acting as a member now, not as a mod. Anyway, I hereby demand that everyone who agrees with that statement:
post that they do, and then refrain from arguing in this topic any longer. Hopefully, this topic will hit page two in a week =D
PS I think it’s pretty awesome that you managed to quote my post twice in the same post, but with different text.
i quite agree. ive been sayin it in most of these pages if you read… >_<
and let me say this: when i started this topic,i figured it would go for maybe 2, 3 weeks tops, and to a maximum of 4-5 pages. but look at it now: 43 three pages over a period of like 2-3 months. its also the biggest topic in the whole forum. so… yeah. im glad i started this. even though everyone is mad at it.
Meh, the real master chief i close to an equal match for samus, and her ice beam is to slow to hit her. But samus’s beam combos would obliterate him.
Wavebuster=finished
Flamethrower+closerange=toasted
Ice spreader=homing=chief on ice
Super missles…eh, chief could stoppem.
But samus’s has more life, and is probably more agile.
