Nah, I went there a long time ago and noticed the surprisingly large number of noobs and decided not to sign up. Has it changed much since then? With my new internet I might be able to join another forum. I think people would like my game over there… But if it’s still overflowing with noobs I might not enjoy being there.

Nice engine! reminds me of mine but I used sprites in a 3d space. Can I ask how you rotated the cylinder and tip of the gun? Im not too good with rotation and such, I dont understand it.
Also, I would suggest better textures and sounds. I have all the metroid prime beam sounds and a sound of her getting hurt. I even have 2 metroids getting hurt sounds. Also, I ripped a bunch of metroid prime hunters textures. You can get these if you want, but can you help me?
My camera’s Y look is pitch and the X look is direction, just so you know if you’ll help me.

I have access to almost every Metroid Prime sound already, but a lot of them have background noises, like missile expansions and energy/missile refills. So that would be nice if I could have some better ones
. For textures, though, I don’t want to use ripped ones.
Wait… by sounds, do you mean music, since the engine 3.0 has no sounds in it? I’m going to be using MIDIs for this game, because MP3’s are way too big, despite their sound quality, and they take ten times longer to make (since you have to worry so much about instrument blending and what instruments sound like).
As for the rotations… I’ll have to think about the best way to describe how to use them… I can’t right now, though. Wait for a PM sometime in the next few days.

Well, I looked at The games guy’s tutorials on rotation and I learned. I now have it so samus can aim with the 3d gun (with textures) and it bobs up and down when walking. It was based off yours a bit so I will give you credit.
By sounds I mean, samus’s power beam, plasma beam, wave beam, ice beam, and samus getting hurt. I also have 2 metroid sounds going “SKREE!!!”. If you want any, just pm me and I will send you them.
I don’t mean to nag, but your arm cannon doesn’t look quite right. it should have some flat boxes on the top and bottom, ovals on the sides and less lines. If you look at the front of zero mission’s case, you should see what I mean. Or you could just play prime.
Anyway I was playing around with the model creator too, and I made a waver. (one of the spinning things in brinstar)

btw, nice modeler, I cant get it to work too well though, my comp is glitchy with transparent textures.
That gun shape and the textures are all just for the engine test. When I make an actual demo of some kind, I’ll be sure to spend a little more than a few minutes on the graphics. I made that gun before I made the model creator, so I didn’t have any fast and easy way of getting the shape and everything right.
I’d love to see that Waver, because it would be easy enough to add that into my game (the AI is very basic). The best way to send that file to me is to save it as a .troid file and open it with notepad (simple ways to do that would be to change the extension to .txt or right-click and select “Open” and then select notepad from the long list of programs that will come up). When you have the file opened with notepad, you should see a lot of numbers. Select all of it (with control+a or edit → select all), and paste it into a PM to me. Do the same thing to send it to Wild.
Not if I can help it… Try using Milk Shape 3D. I’ll see if I can find something else though.
And to all who know about Metroid Aurora (Now codenamed “MPIVA”), yes, it’s still on. By helping troid92, I’ll be helping myself. I still have yet to find a good engine and I’m not sure I probably won’t be using Milk Shape 3D, no matter what the version number.
Also, if I find some hardware and software that would work together, I’d gladly help in any other way I possibly can.
And, troid92, could you send me whatever MIDI synths you have that pwn? I’ve got Anvil Studios (Upgraded) and some pretty pathetic synths.

You quoted something I said all the way back in April. If you’ve noticed, I am using models now. And you don’t have to make it in GM any more. There are plenty of programs out there that can convert common 3-D file formats into Game Maker script.

Well, I made a really nice model of Samus on Maya. It’s one of my best creations yet!
However, it’s not complete. The visor and some minor detail is missing…
But when I’m done, how can I transport the file from Maya 7 to GM?

Go to the link I sent you, scroll down until you see the “Marzipan” program, and download that. It converts tons of different 3-D files into GML and other Game-Maker 3-D formats.
Anyways, if this Samus model is good, I’ll definitely use it. I’ve been thinking about working on an animation for Samus’s morphing animation/various other things (I still won’t be doing many cutscenes, though, because I think it will be more interesting being able to move around in a first/third-person perspective while everything happens), and I would definitely need a Samus model for that.

Hmm… What file formats does Maya save into? There might be another program out there that can convert them.
If all fails, I could learn how Maya files are saved and make a program that reads the data and changes it to the format I use for .troid files.
Edit: I added engine 2.00 back for downloading, and I think I might add engine 2.01, so you can see where I was when I decided to redo the engine from scratch again.
