Metroid: Other M

Any doubt I had that this game would be awesome is now gone.

Holy shit. That’s awesome. >_>

My laptop has a new background.

Likewise.

Interestingly, it seems this pirate took “pirate” pretty seriously. Check it out! He has a false arm and leg! >_>

Didn’t even notice. That’s awesome!

My brother showed me this trailer just yesterday. O.O DO WANT. I like what they’ve done with the suit. Very streamlined.

Yeah… I wasn’t a big fan of the design in the earlier screenshots, but in the gameplay video and concept art it looks quite bitchin’.

Agreed with everything so far. Epic. Awesome. Jizz. Yeah I saw that pic a while back and I love how they mixed the crabbiness of 2D Pirates and the Organic alien Pirates from Prime and mixed them making the Pirate technology covering the Alien making him appear lobstery. Brilliant. Everything is awesome and makes me wanna sprite something.

here is a detailed pick apart with some interesting and some obvious info

I wonder why they identified nearly all of the returning enemies but ignored the conspicuous, in-nearly-every-scene Reos… And huh, I thought I was the only one who saw Phantoon in that giant eye-squid thing since I hadn’t seen it discussed. Hell, I’ve seen about 30 comments about a giant jumping fish being Crocomire merely because it was red and had multiple eyes, so for no one to mention Phantoon, I must have been crazy, I figured. >_>

Is it just me or does it make a few hasty conclusions? “Gameplay starting location” for an abandoned spaceship? “Samus exits training program” when she falls down a shaft? How do they know these things for sure? Maybe I’m just out of the loop.

But that thing is definitely not a Sheegoth.

I was thinking the same thing for those things. I felt that the breakdown made a couple hasty assumptions.

I agree.

Too many unsubstantiated claims.

Also welcome back Troid!

Agreed. The video was pretty much “Here’s a bunch of obvious crap you already knew” with a couple of “Here’s some guesses that we’ve got no proof for.”

There was already confirmation of a training program early-game, and that thing showed her exiting a holographic room thingy. It’s a logical conclusion.

And they never said it was a Sheegoth, just that it somewhat resembled one, much as Sheegoths resemble Motas to begin with, and Shriekbats to Skrees, though that one’s much more obvious.

Metroid creator Yoshio Sakamoto has told Wired how he has been influnced by the work of Italian film director Dario Argento.

Argento is a horror film director who collaborated with George Romero on Dawn Of The Dead. According to Sakamoto, who is working with Team Ninja on Metroid: Other M, his use of music in his films inspired him.

"One of the things that I really like so much about Argento’s films is his use of music and quick cuts to create this amazing contrast from one scene to the next. The music would come along, swelling, and then a big cut with a wonderful surprise for the audience. And he was very good at using those sound effects to change the mood immediately, on a dime.

All of this was very stimulating as I was creating these formulative creative ideas. I thought that this music was perfect for a scary environment, and that it must be possible to include that sort of feeling in a game through music. I think some of that came out when I was working on Famicom Detective Club.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Metroid: Other M new video

That kickass!

That’s the same video that was posted a few pages back…

Yeah…A little late on the ball there, WoTW. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m still skeptical of how switching first person and third person is gonna feel. And, admittedly, I do not like that I can only fire missiles while in first person. I want to fire them in third as well.

Then again, I’m not sure if that info is from a credible source or not, so maybe you can fire missiles in third person and I’m bitching about nothing. :stuck_out_tongue:
