that’s such a negligable amount. even if the population was huge enough to make a noticable amount of difference, we’d starve as was mentioned earlier because the world could not support us.
Medicine basically ended natural selection. We’ve still got just enough social selection to keep genetic diseases from becoming rampant, but we’re not going to really improve much from now on.
EDIT: I should specify, we’re not going to improve much through natural selection. Genetic engineering is the future bitches! H+ 4eva.
I’m with the “Evolution=Not occurring in humans any more” people. As Tim said, we eliminated it with the onset of modern medicine. Civilization itself also played a part in it.
Global warming is real. Trying to deny it is like trying to deny that you breathe air. You may be able to deny it, but it’s still going on, whether you accept it or not.
I missed the end of the abortion argument, just one little nitpick I have to say.
Are you a woman? Have you ever been through labor? Somehow, I doubt it (Note: I am a man, but I was there when my sister was born. Not pleasant memories). In order to adopt a baby, of course, the woman putting said baby up for adoption has to go through labor, not only a potentially life killing process for the baby as well as the mother, but an excruciating process by any standard that men can’t even fathom. Not to mention that recovery from labor is never a full recovery. Nearly every woman has some form of physical mark (stretch marks, anyone?) that tells you she’s had a child.
My point is that abortion is a better solution than dumping that baby into an adoption agency. Not to mention that not everyone wants to adopt a baby. The baby would more than likely end up stuck in the adoption agency for a good portion of its childhood.
So yeah, that’s my little nitpick at the whole abortion thing.
Essentially, I agree with Tim on, like, everything.
